Chibi Suicune

 

Commentary: 

I love the dog trio from Johto. They are one of my favorite trio of legendary Pokémon. I remember being extremely excited when the Pokemon company announced that they were releasing the shiny versions of all three dogs through mystery gift. As a kid, I begged my dad to drive me to Gamestop every week to get all three shinnies, and we would reschedule the entire day just so I could get all three shinnies. I am very grateful, that for an entire month, my dad was willing to go out of his way to drive me to Gamestop to get pixels that were a different color than normal. I still have all three shinies to this day.

Notes: This model is not to difficult to build just be careful about the purple hair and the head piece. If you are confused where the pieces go use Pepakura viewer. I did not want to build the ribbons for this Pokemon(I do not know why, I built this a little bit ago) but I recommend that you just cut some scratch paper up and make it look like the ribbons rather than using the templates given. Chibi Nidoking

Commentary:

 In my part of the world it is still Wednesday. So technically... I am holding myself to my promises. But anyways I used Nidoking in one of my first runs through Firered. I remember having a Nidorino and when I went through Mount Moon I found a moon stone. At the time, I did not know what Pokemon evolved because of a moon stone so I clicked use to see if any of my current Pokemon could use it. To my surprise, Nidorino could use it so I immediately evolved Nidorino. Little did I know Nidoking would not learn any other moves through level-up besides Trash and Megahorn. I boxed it after level 25 and never used this Pokemon again. Later on I learned, that Nidoking could learn close to all the good TMs (flamethrower, ice beam, thunderbolt, etc..) and had great type coverage. Running a choice specs Nidoking would be a cool Pokemon to run competitively, but I do not know much about competitive Pokemon.

Notes: The model is simple to join. The only suggestion I have is to trim the bottom part of the ear, so they do not flair too far off the model. Besides that enjoy building and stay tune. 

Chibi Bastiodon

Commentary:

 Before I talk my opinion/story about this Pokemon. I recently worked with Paperpokes to build a larger and a model closer to the video game model of Bastiodon. If you want to build that model go visit http://www.pokemonpapercraft.net/ to get the free download. I have been building Paperpokes models for the past decade and they provide free and quality templates, so I highly recommend checking them out to find more templates.

Ok back to the normal content. I never used a Bastiodon during a playthrough. I have a Bastiodon from when I almost completed the national dex for Sinnoh (I was 487 out of 493) but that is it. The only memory of Bastiodon I had was when I faced the steel-gym leader dude who was Roark's father (this is literally how I remembered him before I looked up him up on Serebii to figure out his name was Byron). For some reason, I had some trouble facing this Pokemon with my team as my Empoleon's surf three shotted it and I kept getting bad rolls so Byron would always used a hyper potion whenever this Pokemon was low. This Pokemon was just annoying as I could not knock it. It was not doing any damage to me so it kinda of just sitting there doing nothing and not fainting. Is Byron the only gym-leader, elite four member, or boss to use a Bastiodon because I do not remember anyone else using it?

Notes: Even though it may seem logical to connect the nose pieces together and Pepakura says to, DO NOT connect the horns on the nose. They should be two separate horns you will attach individually to the model. For the spikes on the back of the model, I personally only made four, but if you are going to make five you will have to trim each spike so that they can all fit on the back. For the feet spikes, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND following the PDO, Pepakura designer. I could not make these easier to make so follow the PDO as places do not attach where you think they should attach. Besides that, enjoy building, stay tune and do not forget to visit Paperpokes if you want to build the bigger Bastiodon!

Chibi Deino

 Commentary:

 I do not have much to say about this Pokémon. I mean I used one during my first run through of Pokémon Black and it took multiple runs through the elite four to evolve it to Zweilous (level 50) and then Hydreigon at level (64). It felt completely useless until it evolved into Hydreigon, but the exp.share made this journey much easier. Besides the Pokémon being a complete pain to evolve, I love the design of this Pokémon as it starts as a cute Pokémon, gains a head every evolution and becomes a beast by the time it is fully evolved. It is ashamed that this Pokémon is not available until Victory Road because if it was available earlier it may have been more useful during the story.

Chibi Volcarona

Commentary: 

For the longest time, I thought that Volcarona was a legendary. My first encounter was in the sand place in Pokemon Black. You had to wait until after you beat the elite four, navigate through a maze of rooms (Like you did to find Pokemon like Moltres or Giratina), and the weirdest part of all when you were battling it, it was level 70. I just assumed this was a legendary Pokemon and did not bother to breed it when I went on a rampage of breeding every Pokemon to fill out the Pokdex. I did not figure out that Volcarona was not a legendary Pokemon until you receive a Larvesta in Black 2 (I think the way you obtain a Larvesta in this game was to hatch an egg you receive). I looked up on Serebii what and when Larvesta evolved and I was stunned to learn it evolved at level 59 to Volcarona. So that blew my child brain at the time. 

For Pokemon Showdown I have always wanted to run a Volcarona as a sweeper as it can learn quiver dance, but unfortunately Volcarona has a severe allergy to rock-type attacks. It basically dies whenever it is hit by a rock-type attack and loses half its health whenever switching into stealth rocks.

Notes: Building the body is the probably the most difficult part. Build from the bottom up closing at the top of the body. Make sure to fold every line on the bottom of the body and closely follow the PDO on for the correct attachment. When attaching the head and head piece, first attach the head and then when it is almost dry gluing slide the two head pieces into place. They should fit snuggly. Last two things. When you are making the black pieces in the front of the body make sure to trim each one significantly, you will be surprised how much you need to trim. Finally, when making the wings you can just fold the the wings on top of itself, since the wings are symmetrical and trim any of the tabs or excess white you see. Hopefully, you enjoy building and stay tune!  

Chibi Altaria

Commentary: 

I feel like I used this Pokemon while running through Pokemon Emerald at least once, but I do not recall anything special or funny about this Pokemon. However, when I was playing Pokemon Go (this story takes place about a year ago) I was very excited to evolve my first three star shiny Swablu (means the Pokemon should be the top class for that type of Pokemon). I was planning to power it up intensely and make it one of my strongest Pokemon as I thought because it was a somewhat bulky Pokemon it would have a decently high CP (Combat Power). Well, 😅 I was dead wrong. Before evolving Swablu, it had a whopping 900 CP. After evolving it, Altaria only had 1000 CP with majortiy of the max CP bar filled. In other words, this Pokemon would not have been as powerful as I hoped, and I did not actually power up this Pokemon any further. I know I probably should have looked up the CP cap for Altaria, but how am I supposed to have funny story for this Pokemon 🤪. But anyways, the screenshot of this Pokemon is down below, I cut-out the location where it was caught for obvious reasons.

Notes: This model is not to difficult to build. Build the wings first and just glue the top of the body on one of the long sides of the wings. On the other side of the wings, glue the feet. Make sure to trim the feet and play with the positioning to allow the model to stand up properly. Besides that enjoy building and stay tuned!

Chibi Kyurem

Commentary:

 I did play Black and White one and two, but I do not remember much about this Pokemon. I just remember being surprised that this was the cover Pokemon for Black and White 2 and that I wanted to play Pokemon Black 2 because I thought the Kyurem combination with Zekrom was cooler than the one with Reshiram. 

 Also, fun fact, this model was the quickest turn around for a model I have made. Please do not expect this quick of a turnaround as classes start next week for me...so yeah😓. I have models planned for the upcoming times so do not worry about further posts, I have them covered.

Notes: The head is the hardest part of the model to build. Before I start talking about how to build the head, I need to cover the other parts of the model. First, I put exactly three pennies inside the body and then used the tail to make a tripod with the legs to allow the model to stand up as at an angle close to 180 degrees. For the wings I tried to make them as easy possible but use Pepakura to make sure the build of the wings is correct (You can download Pepakura under the important links tab and click open PDOs).

For the head I recommend building the blue section of the face first and make sure to fold all the possible folds (I had to keep Pepakura open on my computer when making the model). Next, I cut out the eyes from the head and just glued them directly to the blue section and I continued to build the head.

Then I lined up the bottom part up of the head to the bottom of the head and trimmed the top part to allow it to comfortably fit with the blue part of the head. I also attached the yellow piece on top of the face.

Lastly, I attached the back of the head to the front of the head. If you have not noticed I did not close the back of the head. Once the glue dries, I put my toothpick inside the head and pushed out parts of the back of the head that was crushed and to push out parts to make sure the transition from the front of the head to the back of the head is smooth. When you like the position of the back part of the head in accordance with the front part of the head, you can close the back of the head.

Chibi Bulbasaur

Commentary: 

I think if you read the other generation one starters' commentary sections, you can conclude that Bulbasaur is my favorite generation one starter. Well, just to confirm, Bulbasaur is my favorite generation one starter. When I first played FireRed and Bulbasaur reached level 13 (I had to look this fact on Serebii), I allowed the Bulbasaur to learn poison powder and sleep powder giving me the move set of vine whip, leech seed, poison powder and sleep powder. Let us just say I had a huge problem defeating any Pokemon that resisted grass type moves (which is surprising a lot from other in game trainers like team rocket). I would never line up with that move set again, but this problem taught me the importance of diversifying my team as I had to heavily rely on a Pidgey, Buttefree, and Pikachu in the beginning of the game.

Chibi Squirtle

Commentary: 

Just to remind you that this section is about my opinions about the Pokemon. In my opinion Squirtle is my least favorite starter Pokemon from the first region. The design of the Pokemin is brilliant and cute and when it evolves to Blastoise gains water cannons as part of its arm (like thats is cool). I just never seemed to choose this Pokemon that often when starting the game as I felt like I was limiting my team selection. Because I liked having a diverse team to take on the game, Squirtle would take up the water-type Pokemon slot of my team leaving out many types of water-types. Pokemon such as Gyarados, Tentacruel, Starmie, Golduck, Poliwrath, Slowbro, Dewgong or Vaporeon would not be used in the play through (never wanted to use a Seaking ever in a playthrough. If you have used Seaking in a playthrough tell me about it in the comments below). I felt there seemed to lack a plethora of quality fire and grass/bug type Pokemon in Generation 1 (Besides maybe Arcanine, Ninetales, Flareon, Vileplume and Victreebel), thus I used my starter to fill the gap. Therefore, I rarely chose Squirtle as my starter (Once I learned how to beat Brock with Charmander I chose Charmamnder many more runs) and thus did not create many memories (a stronger bond) with this Pokemon. I will admit though the Squirtle Squad in the anime is awesome and amazing and I love creation of those Squirtle.

Notes: Again, this model is not too difficult to build and it is a great model for someone who wants to learn to build their own papercrafts. By the recent trend I think most people can guess the next Pokemon in which I will release so enjoy building and stay tuned!

Chibi Charmander

Commentary:

 When I first played Pokemon FireRed, I will wanted to run through the game with a Charizard, so I picked Charmander as my started. I remember breezing through the first few areas of the game thinking how easy the rest of the game would be. I even was able to beat the trainers in the gym leading up to Brock extremely easily, but the main challenge was yet to appear. I was able to knock out his Geodude with some ease only losing a few Pidgey and Caterpie, but the real challenge was defeating the Onix. My strongest attack at the time was ember and it did measly damage compared to Onix's rock tomb which one-hit-KOed all my team members. After failing multiple times, I grinded my Charmander until it learned metal claw. When I refaced the gym, I was able to easily take out the Geodude with metal claw, but when Onix came out metal claw only did a sliver more damage than what ember. I tried beating Brock for the next hour to no triumph. As a kid, I was unaware of saving before fighting the gym leader and the fact that every time you lost a battle you lost money, so I eventually thought of the brilliant idea of buying items to help aid my attempt against Brock but I had no money by that time. I concluded that I was not going to beat Brock but wanted to progress in the game, so I restarted the game with a different starter and had a better time progressing past Brock. I am pretty sure I eventually tried again with Charmander, but I forget how I was able to beat Brock. I probably evolved Charmander up to a Charmeleon and used items to help.

Chibi Raichu

Commentary:

 I never really used this Pokemon in game besides in Pokemon FireRed. All I remember about this Pokemon was that it was a strong electric type attacker throughout the game. The only problem with this Pokemon was that it did not learn ANY level up moves once it evolved😐, so most of the time, I just ran thunderbolt with a range of weak normal and electric type moves. When writing this I thought, nah Raichu cannot have that bad of a move-set it must be able to learn the elemental punches maybe I was just stupid as a kid to not teach it those moves, but I was wrong. The only strong moves Raichu is capable of learning are electric type moves, mega punch or kick, and dynamic punch, so I guess I could have gave it better moves besides just thunderbolt, shock wave, thunder shock and thunder wave.  Lastly a small complaint/confusion, how does Pikachu or Raichu not learn volt tackle through level-up as it is a moved used heavily in the anime 🤔(I have watched very few episodes of the anime, but Ash's Pikachu seems to use volt tackle quite a bit) I always wanted to use it in game but I would not gain the opportunity until future games.
